SASS Montana State Wild Bunch and Cowboy Action Shooting Championships
Join us at the Great Falls Shooting Sports Complex just north of Great Falls, MT.
We will be shooting in the Black Horse Township with an incredible view of Great Falls and an excellent shooting facility at the Great Falls Shooting Sports Complex.
Tuesday July 14: RO Classes
Wednesday and Thursday July 15 and 16–10 Stage Montana State Wild Bunch Match
Friday July 17–Warm-up Match
Saturday and Sunday July 18 and 19–12 stage Montana State Cowboy Action Championship
Saturday night-Potluck dinner and BBQ.
Camping:
- There is plenty of dry camping at the range.
- There isn’t water available.
- A limited number of electrical sites are available and spaces are assigned based on the date you enter and medical need. You will be notified by July 1 if approved. $20 fee for electrical, if approved, and paid at shooter check in.
Other accommodations:
The closest motel to the range is the Days Inn at 101 14th Avenue NW phone 406-727-6565. The range is only 7 miles from town so there are lots of options. Airbnb and VRBO have other options particularly if you are traveling with a group. Why have a hotel room when you could have an apartment or home with all the amenities?
The deadline for registering is June 20, so don’t delay.

Juniors, Buckaroos and Buckarettes: No shooter fee for contestants under the age of 17.
Teddy Roosevelt and Doughboy three stage side match. A Wild Bunch legal pistol and shotgun with appropriate rifle per SASS requirement.
Potluck: Why pay for an expensive banquet that only a few will attend, when everyone can join in on a potluck? The match will provide the main course. Shooters will divide up the salads, sides and deserts.
Long Distance Side Match: We offer one of the finest long range shooting contests in the Northwest. With distances at +/- 250 yards, this event provides an exciting challenge for those who like a long shot. Categories include Single Shot Rifle, Rifle Caliber Lever Gun, Trapdoor all .38 cal or larger, and .22 Single Shot Rifle (No modern style lever or bolt action rifles) Other long range events will be pistol caliber rifle and pistol.
Scheutzen: SASS Scholarship Fundraiser – A really cool decorated shooting target is placed at an unknown distance. Everyone who hits the target with their match rifle/pistol gets to sign it. The closest to the star wins the target and bragging rights!!! You also get the warm feeling of helping a young cowboy or cowgirl to advance their life through a SASS scholarship.
